Recently a five-year study was conducted by theCenter for Childhood Development in Los AngelesCalifornia, regarding the way babies react to differenttypes of people The findings of the study suggest thatbabies seem to be more comfortable around other babiesthan they are with strange adults. The results confirmthe ideas of Dr. Richard Perelman, who has writtenmany books about raising children with his researchteam. Dr. Perelman supports the findings of the studand adds that it is a sounder idea to keep children withother children, as in a day care center, than it is tohave children cared for by a babysitter. According tothe results of the study, though some babies seem toshow fear of strange adults, they are likely to reach outto try to touch an unfamiliar baby. If the findings aretrue, it may lead to an increase in the use of familybased day care centers where children can spend moretime with each other and less time with adults.
